The Franklin News-Post reports on the expansion of Responsible Rides into Franklin County. The award-winning auto loan program serves working individuals and families that need reliable transportation.

From the article:

Freedom First developed Responsible Rides in 2010 in response to a growing need for affordable, reliable transportation among the working families served by the credit union in Roanoke. The program, which incorporates financial education and vehicle maintenance training, has recently expanded to Franklin County through Freedom First's partnership with STEP.

STEP acts as a go-between for qualified Franklin County individuals and uses select dealerships in the county."Working with local dealerships allows us to not only help our clients, but to bring more business into the community at the same time," said Kim English, financial service manager for STEP.

"It is a win-win for everyone, and we are just ecstatic about our partnership with Freedom First."

Freedom First has staff onsite at STEP every Wednesday to provide financial counseling and credit union programs to area residents. Contact Tim Cerebe at (540) 527-3532 to make an appointment.
