Freedom First Wins 2015 Desjardins Adult Financial Literacy Award from CUNA

February 26, 2016

On February 24, 2016, Freedom First received The 2015 Desjardins Adult Financial Literacy Award from the Credit Union National Association (CUNA). Freedom First’s Responsible Rides program placed first in the state-level awards late last year, and continued on to win at the national-level among credit unions with assets from $150 million to $500 million.

Responsible Rides is a partnership with local non-profit agencies that provides a sustainable solution to increase car ownership for low-income working families. The Responsible Rides program requires a participant to successfully complete a two-hour financial education class as well as attend a one-hour vehicle maintenance class. By developing sound money management and basic car care and maintenance skills, cash-strapped families, many with poor or no credit scores, can ensure they are well-prepared for the responsibilities of car ownership.
