Freedom First Credit Union has awarded Connie Wagner of Roanoke 6 months of free mortgage payments. Ms. Wagner was one of more than 20,000 people who entered the Freedom First/WSLS-10 sweepstakes, which offered 6 months of free mortgage or rent payments to one winner in WSLS’s viewing area.

“I couldn’t believe it when they told me,” said Ms. Wagner. “Winning this prize is going to help us more than you know. We are so grateful!”

This was our first sweepstakes of this kind, said Steve Hildebrand, Freedom First’s Vice President of Marketing, “but it won’t be the last. Not only have we been able to help one person who lives on a fixed income and was struggling to make ends meet, but we’re helping a lot of other people save money too.”

The sweepstakes entry included a question about saving money, and the Credit Union has been reaching out to people who expressed interest in exploring their options. “Our mission statement includes helping our entire community thrive,” said Hildebrand. “We do that by offering lower rates, charging fewer fees, and expanding our network of branches. We’re not going anywhere.”
