Freedom First Announces 2017 Board of Directors Election Results

Freedom First recently held their annual membership meeting and announced the newly elected members of the board of directors. Filling the three open positions of the nine-member volunteer board are two first-time directors, Michelle Dykstra and Ron Williams, and one re-elected incumbent, Dan Merenda.

The biggest sports competition to hit southwest Virginia happened at the Bonsack Kroger on Wednesday when WSLS 10’s Dawn Jefferies & Jeff Haniewich and Freedom First's Dave Prosser went up against Daytime Blue Ridge’s Natalie Faunce and Brittany Flowers in a grocery cart challenge to help feed more than a half dozen families for the holidays.

This is the third consecutive year that Freedom First received the Desjardins Award from VACUL, and the second time in three years it took the top honors for the Louise Herring Award.

Roanoke’s team comprises representatives from Roanoke College, the City of Roanoke, Freedom First Credit Union, United Way of Roanoke Valley, and Local Environmental Agriculture Project (LEAP).

FREEDOM FIRST OPENS NEW BRANCH AT TANGLEWOOD

Freedom First's newest branch opened November 3 at 4203 Electric Road in Roanoke. The location, at the intersection with Ogden Road just across from Panera, is the Credit Union's 11th branch and the 5th location in Roanoke.
